| The Oregon Isshinryu Karate Club is a non-profit dojo founded upon the teachings of Isshinryu Grandmaster, Tatsuo Shimabuku. Our Club is currently located in the physical fitness center at the Intel Corporation’s Jones Farm facility, in Hillsboro, Oregon. | |||

Sensei Chandler has been a student of the martial arts since 1988. The bulk of his training is in Isshinryu Karate, in which he earned the rank of Sho Dan from 1st generation Shimabuku student, Master Harold Long (10th Dan, Isshinryu Karate, http://www.isshinryu.nxs.net/Members/Long.htm and Ni Dan from Hanshi Phil Little, President of the United States Isshinryu Karate Association. Sensei Chandler has competed in and won several martial arts tournaments at various belt levels, including the Athens Karate Games and the East Coast Isshinryu Karate Championships. In addition, he has earned green belts in Taekwondo and Hapkido under 8th Dan Sensei Pyong Eun, and in Shorinryu Karate under 8th Dan Sensei Doug Perry. Sensei Chandler has also extensively studied Western boxing, Jujitsu/Submission Grappling, and Muay Thai kickboxing. Sensei Chandler is currently a certified Isshinryu instructor affiliated with the United States Isshinryu Karate Association (http://www.usika.com/) and the Okinawan Karatedo Union (www.oku.com)

Sensei Paul Hamilton has been a student of the martial arts for nearly thirty years. Sensei Hamilton began training in Master Harold Long’s Knoxville, TN, dojo in the early 1970’s, earning the rank of brown belt from Master Long. After many years of individual training – and pursuing a career and raising a family – Sensei Hamilton joined the Oregon Isshinryu Karate Club and earned the rank of Sho Dan in the summer of 2002. Sensei Hamilton is an avid athlete, with extensive knowledge of strength training techniques. |
